Pre-conference symposium : Conducting gender inclusive research: Pratical Skills for Impact

This interactive short course is designed to equip researchers and program staff with practical skills to integrate gender inclusivity throughout the research process. Participants will explore key gender concepts, understand the importance of applying a gender lens in health and clinical research, and practice using tools and frameworks that enhance the equity, relevance, and impact of their work. Through real-world examples and hands-on activities, the course fosters critical reflection and builds capacity to identify and address gender-related barriers in research design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination. The course aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to conduct gender-inclusive research that leads to more equitable, ethical, and impactful outcomes.

Objectives

  1. Understand key concepts of gender, power, and intersectionality in research.
  2. Identify why gender inclusive matters across the research cycle
  3. Apply practical tools to integrate gender into study design, data collection, analysis and
    dissemination.
  4. Design an action plan or checklist to enhance gender inclusivity in their own research
    practice.
